Description
Black head and breast, round white "window" in black wingtips, and short rounded buff tail. Rufous naped and rich-buff under tail coverts and trousers. Bill long, robust, blue-grey with black tip, legs short, yellow. Pale phase: pale buff with fine dark streaks or mottlings, back black or mottled black, facial skin and legs yellow.
Habits
Diurnal, Solitary birds, usually found alone or in pairs, Sedentary or nomadic.
Habitat
Woodland Grassland Shrubland, Throughout northern interior and along adjacent coasts, ecualypt-lined inland. watercourses; open scrublands; open woodlands.
Breeding
May June July, 1-4; matt white-pale buff Both sexes incubate the eggs for about 40 days. Young fly after about 60 days Young remain dependant for several months.
