Diurnal, They are not communial, feed alone or in pairs and nest in solitary territories.

Habitat

Grassland Wetlands, Shingly & muddy banks of rivers; lakes; water-hole; inland waters and fringing forests; floodplains.

Breeding

May to September, 3; stone-colour, marked brown & lavendar. Both male and female share incubation which is 26 days.
