Coastal Grassland, Tussock grasslands and wallum heaths on the coast; grass banks and reed beds.
Breeding
May to July, after monsoonal rains. Four white eggs. Incubation by female, male roosts with her by day and brings food by night. Young fed by both parents, and fledge at 8 months.
