Habits

Dives freely, and can swim great distances underwater. Has spectacular displays in the breeding season Builds floating nests , strongly defended.

Habitat

Wetlands, Swamps; lakes and lagoons.

Breeding

November to February, 5 to 7; greenish-white, soon becoming soiled from contact with soiled vegetation. Both sexes construct nest and care for young.

Diet

Omnivore, Aquatic life and plants.
