Habits

Appears to be nomadic, although it is found in some localities throughout the year By day stand about in small loose flocks of up to about 20. All members of the flock move in unison - feeding, preening,stopping and running together.

Habitat

Grassland Desert, sparsely vegetated plains, margins of lakes and streams.

Breeding

April to November. Usually three eggs, rich cream or buff, sparingly sprinkled with spots of chocolate black, with a few dots of a lighter tint. When bird leaves nest it covers eggs with surrounding soil. Incubation by both sexes.

Diet

Omnivore, Insects and seeds.
