Diurnal, Pairs may be permanent and us the same nest in successive years.
Habitat
Grassland Forest Woodland Wetlands, Open country; belts of scrub timber near water; inland waters and fringing forest; floodplains.
Breeding
August to October. Three white eggs. While breeding, silent and secretive in their nesting area, with well-established pair-bonding and nest maintenance rituals.

Herbivore, Grass seeds; bulbs and roots.Observed eating Grevillea pteridifolia seed during September.
