Habits

Diurnal, Feed on ground. When disturbed they take of with a slight whirring of wings Extremely tame and confiding. Lives in pairs for most of the year, but may form wandering flocks in winter. Nest is small flimsy platform of twigs, grass and rootlets placed in a tree.

Habitat

Coastal Woodland Forest Wetlands, well grassed eucalypt woodland with water nearby; inland waters and fringing forest; open woodland.

Breeding

March April May June July August September, 2 ; white. eggs incubated by both sexes for 14 -16 days. Young fly after about 21 days. Breeding is closely linked with patterns of rainfall, and a number of broods may be raised in quick succession.
