Description

Similar to Brolga, legs are dull pinkish whereas Brolga's are grey Red area on head extends down the neck.

Habits

Diurnal, Noted for elaborate displays of dancing, very similar to Brolga Nesting paris space themselves out in territories of 50-80 ha. Lives for 60 yrs or more.

Habitat

Grassland Wetlands Coastal, Tropical northern Australia. Plains swampy areas and coastal regions

Breeding

Breeding season during or just after the wet, 2 (usually); pale buffy-white, blotched and freckled with dull reddish-brown and purple. Incubation by both sexes. Usually only one young reared; chick begins to walk,swim and feed itself after two days and is almost self-sufficient in a week.
