Description

Large long-winged brownish hawk with a white rump, breast whitish buff with deeper streaks.

Habits

Diurnal, Partly nomadic and migratory. Traditional territories.

Habitat

Wetlands, open country, including swamps and any water, patrols shores and shallow water areas; and adjacent swampy cover; saltmarshes; grasslands; crops.

Breeding

September October November December January, 3 to 5; bluish-white, without gloss. Both sexes build nest, only the female incubates, broods and feeds the young. Incubation period 32-34 days, fledge in 42-46 days.
