Why are frogs seen as good indicators of the health of the environment.

Frogs absorb water through their skin and can also breathe through their skin. This means they absorb pollutants from the environment. Tadpoles are also good indicators as they do not survive in polluted water. Frogs do not survive in areas with polluted water and because they are sensitive if you have good numbers of frogs your environment is probably healthy.
