Nocturnal. Call - a deep "wark wark wark"

Habitat

Coastal, Wetlands, Woodland, Grassland, most common in Monsoon Forest. Coast to drier interior of north western WA, NT, QLD, SA and NSW. Usually encountered in human dwellings, lavatories, water tanks and troughs, windmills, downpipes, etc

Notes

At home in gardens and houses. Harmless, strong jumper, loud rasping call.

Breeding

Breeding congregations in summer in grassy, rain filled temporary marshes.
