Description

Colour and pattern highly variable. Typically a broad pale brown to reddish-brown vertabral band from the tip of the snout to the vent.

Habits

Nocturnal. Terrestrial.

Habitat

Coastal, and adjacent areas of Northern and Eastern Australia, from the Kimberleys to the mid-coast of NSW. Usually encountered foraging amongst the litter on the floor of open forests or around the forested edges of permanent swamps

Breeding

Breeds in temporary soaks and waterholes during the wet season, although it may breed in the permanent swamps which it frequents during the dry season.
