2 basic colour patterns. Common is irregularly mottled above with metallic fawn, brown or reddish brown and dark brown. Small tubercles on the back tending to be light-centred and dark edged. In the less common form, dark brown predominates dorsally

Diurnal. Most active by day, easy to capture at night when it congregates on floating vegetation or at the water's edge
Habitat
Coastal, Stone Country, dry and wet rockland. North Eastern WA to Arnhemland. Permanent creeks and waterholes of the rocky hills and gorges of the western escarpment
