Diurnal, From a distance appear to walk on water because they use their exceptionally long toes to walk and run across the leaves of floating water plants. Solitary or in pairs, feeding birds forage along the edges of pools

Habitat

Coastal Wetlands, Swamps; lagoons; streams; floodplains covered by aquatic vegetation, inland waters and fringing forests.

Breeding

November to January, 4; pale brown, varied colouring. Both sexes incubate the eggs and care for the young.
