Habits
Gregarious bird, lives in flocks and breeds in loose groups in small areas. Fly in closely packed flocks.
Habitat
Grassland Wetlands, floodplains; grassy plains: saltbush; spinifex; open mulga.
Breeding
Often colonial. Breeds soon after wet season. 2 eggs, glossy white or cream. Incubation 16 days, male alternating with female by day and night. First young leaves at 7 days.
Diet
Herbivore, seeds of grass and herbage.
