Diurnal, Adept at injury feigning, strictly a ground bird but occasionally mounts in the air and during the descent utters a sharp 'whit-whit-whit'

Desert, Stone Country, Arid country; chiefly Gibber Plains.
Breeding
May to October (or after rain). 3 eggs, mainly white, with reddish-browh spots on larger end.

Carnivore, Insects; seeds.
