Habitat

Wetlands, floodplains; Mainly fresh; less frequently marine water of eastern and coastal western Australia.

Breeding

Breeds in colonies throughout year. Three to five eggs; chalky blue. Incubation about 28 days by both sexes. Young fledge in about 7 weeks.
