Diurnal, Often in 1s and 2s when not breeding, gather erratically in colonies of tens to hundreds to nest.

Habitat

Coastal Wetlands, Inland and coastal swamps and estuaries.

Breeding

September to May in colonies, 2-4; buffy-white with markings. Incubation 22-23 days by both sexes.
