Diurnal, Highly social at all times, mixing in flocks of up to 100 or more.

Habitat

Grassland Wetlands, Tall cane-grass near swamps & rivers; inland.

Breeding

January February March, 4 to 6; white. Incubation by both sexes 12-13 days and young fledge 20-22 days.

Diet

Herbivore, ripe and part-ripe grains of a variety of grasses. During breeding consume flying insects.
